The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation extends a warm welcome to family members of firefighters being honored during the 2008 Memorial Weekend. We also welcome back our returning survivors, who help us honor and support our families of fallen firefighters.
This special Weekend will honor the service and sacrifice of your loved one and the other firefighters being honored this year. You will have opportunities to meet fire service survivors from across the country so that you can share experiences, make lasting friendships, and begin to look ahead.
Other family members and friends who would like to attend the Weekend should contact the Foundation. We would be glad to talk with you, explain the many activities, or put you in touch with another fire service survivor who has attended a previous Weekend.
All family members need to pre-register to attend the Weekend. If you are an immediate family member of a firefighter being honored at the 2008 Memorial Weekend, your invitation was mailed in May.
The package includes several forms that you must mail or fax to the Foundation so that we can make arrangements for your lodging, meals, transportation, and activities.
If you will be arriving by plane or train, uniformed firefighters will meet you at your gate, assist with your luggage, and transport you to your hotel in Frederick, Maryland hotel.
If you arrive on Friday, you can check in at the Foundation registration area at your designated family hotel. Once you arrive at the hotel, we recommend that you check into your room first. Then follow the hotel signs to our registration area.
Foundation staff members and returning family volunteers will be there to welcome you, get you registered for activities, and answer any questions you may have. You will get your official Memorial Weekend ID and information on all weekend events. You will have time to sign the special Remembrance banner, pick up your weekend keepsakes, or meet our fire service clowns.
Memorial Weekend registration will be open on Friday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the family hotel complex in Frederick.
If you do not register on Friday, you can also register on Saturday. Registration will be held on the Emmitsburg campus in Building B.
