During the Weekend, members of the fire service can honor America's bravest and participate in a number of activities. You can pay your respects to America's fallen fire heroes and their survivors in a number of ways.
Honor Guard, Bagpipe Units and fire department members who would like to be Family Escorts must pre-register in order to participate in the Memorial Weekend.

We recognize that firefighters who lose a fellow firefighter in the line of duty are survivors, too. We want you to be part of the weekend activities.
If you are not already participating as an Honor Guard/Pipe Band member or Fire Service Escort, department members are encouraged to attend special sessions for coworkers on Saturday morning. Small group sessions give coworkers an opportunity to share their experiences and make lasting connections. Sessions are also available for family members of coworkers.
Departments of fallen firefighters, escorts, and honor guard/pipe band unit commanders will receive additional information about lodging and scheduled events.
Both the Candlelight Service and National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service are open to the public. The Candlelight begins at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, and the Memorial Service begins at 10 a.m. on Sunday, October 6.
Parking is not allowed on campus, so you will have to park at Mount St. Mary's University along Route 15 and ride the shuttle buses to the campus. Plan to arrive at the parking area at least an hour ahead of time as you will need to go through a security checkpoint on campus.
We look forward to having you with us.
There will be no on-campus parking during the Memorial Weekend or the Saturday Candlelight Service.
Parking will be available at Mt. St. Mary's University Knott Athletic Recreation Convocation Complex ARCC in Emmitsburg, with regular shuttle service to the campus. On Friday (Honor Guard, Escorts, Volunteers) and during the day on Saturday, a shuttle will run at scheduled times from designated parking areas in Emmitsburg to the campus. On Sunday, shuttle service will run from Mt. St. Mary's University to the National Emergency Training Center campus.
