Each year, the Foundation sponsors the official national tribute to all firefighters who died in the line of duty during the previous year. Thousands attend the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
Each year the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation publishes a remembrance book that highlights the firefighters who are being recognized each year in Emmitsburg at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial. These books give you a glimpse into the lives of these brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice and who will be forever enshrined at the memorial. Please take a look at not only this year’s remembrance book, but those of the past.

We are honored to continue the tradition of gathering in front of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial this May to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. As part of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation invites you to join us in remembering those who died in the line of duty in 2022, and in previous years and honoring their families. Even if you can’t join us in person, there are many ways to honor the fallen and their families and help us spread the word about National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.
Bells will ring from as a grateful nation pauses on May 7, 2023 to honor firefighters who died in the line of duty in 2022 and previous years.

On Sunday, May 7, 2023, at noon, many stations across the country will sound their sirens in honor of the fallen firefighters.

You can lower your American flag in observance of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.
To honor America’s fallen fire heroes, ask your local and state officials to issue a proclamation. Since the Memorial Service begins National Fire Prevention Week, you may want to tie the two events together in the proclamation.
