2022-2023 NFFF Scholarship Applications Now Being Accepted Online

Through the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s scholarship programs, the loved ones of the fallen can realize their educational dreams. Online applications are being accepted January 1 through March 1 for the 2022-2023 Sarbanes Scholarship Program, the Alan Patrick Sondej Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Motorola Solutions Foundation Enhanced Scholarship Initiative which provides financial assistance to spouses, life partners, children, and step-children of firefighters honored at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial.

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s scholarship programs, enable spouses, life partners, children, and stepchildren of our fallen firefighters pursue their educational and career goals. Apply by March 1, 2021.

Under the new program, developed in consultation with our scholarship partners, awards are now based on an assessment of a student’s financial need and academic performance.

Applications are being accepted now through March 1 for the 2020-2021 National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Scholarship Program. For the first time since it’s inception, scholars will apply online for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Scholarship.

NFFF Al Sondej Memorial Scholarship Announcement

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation announced a new scholarship fund in honor of Alan Patrick Sondej. Al Sondej, a member of the Hyattsville Volunteer Fire Department in Prince George’s County, Maryland died on March 16, 1988 from injuries sustained during a fire. The fund was made possible through a generous donation by Dave Levy a former volunteer firefighter at the nearby Chillum-Adelphi Volunteer Fire Department.

New Scholarship Honors Extraordinary Life of Fallen Firefighter

In recognition of Alan’s spirit for giving, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation has established the Alan Patrick Sondej Memorial Scholarship Fund for Families of Fallen Firefighters. This new scholarship will be part of the Foundation’s Sarbanes Scholarship Program and was made possible by a donation from a former volunteer firefighter from Prince George’s County, Maryland.

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and its partners awarded 70 scholarships to 61 children, 3 stepchildren, and 6 spouses for the 2015-2016 academic years, totaling over $210,000.
