Firefighter Daniel Leonard, of the Paterson Fire Department died on January 9, 1906, after sustaining severe injuries from falling from the apparatus as it was pulling out of the firehouse, responding to an alarm for a barn fire at 430 Ellison Street on October 20, 1905. He was hospitalized for several days and discharged to home. Against advice, he returned to work in a weakened state and was on duty on the theater detail when he passed out. He never recovered.
