Daniel W. Mumford‚ 48‚ a volunteer firefighter with the West Haverstraw Fire Department‚ died of head trauma and a heart attack when he collapsed at the scene of a structure fire on May 9‚ 1998. He was a 25-year member of the S.W. Johnson Steam Engine Company and had been on the Biology staff at SUCO-Oneonta for many years.

I went to Clarkstown High School with Danny before there was a north and south. I was a transfer student in my senior year. I sat next to him in homeroom and he was just the nicest guy. So sweet to me. I remember him so fondly. I remember his wife Raylene. Rest in peace Danny. You were a great friend. I hope you are happy in heaven.
