Timothy J. Lynch ‘TJ’ was a 28-year-old career firefighter/paramedic‚ at the Fayetteville Fire Department. TJ died on March 7‚ 2002 while battling a house fire in Pompey‚ NY. He worked full-time at the Fayetteville Fire Department‚ part-time for the Tully Fire Department and was a volunteer for the Kirkville and Manlius Fire Department. He worked at Rural/Metro Medical services as a paramedic for seven years. TJ was also a special Deputy for the Sheriff’s Department. He worked as a firefighter/paramedic most of his life and believed that being a firefighter was not just a job – it was a privilege and an honor.
TJ was very active in the Fayetteville Fire Department and was on the safety committee. He graduated from Onondaga Community College and finished his last 2 years at Lemoyne College. When TJ was not working he enjoyed hunting‚ camping‚ biking and scuba diving. He was also a licensed Ham radio operator. He enjoyed spending family time with his wife and son.
TJ always thought of others and not himself and gave the ultimate sacrifice for his community on March 7‚ 2002. TJ will be remembered everyday by all who love him as a role model who embodied the best of humanity – courage‚ strength of character‚ high ideals and a radiant strong vitality for life.
He is survived by his wife Donna and son Philip.
A Memorial Scholarship was established in TJ’s name for students interested in Fire Sciences and becoming Career Fire Fighters.
