Fire Hero Families from across the United States will gather in Emmitsburg, Maryland, on May 3–4, 2025, for the 44th Annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend.

Because of the weather forecast, both the Candlelight Service on Saturday, May 3rd at 7:30 pm and the National Memorial Service on Sunday, May 4th at 10:00 am will now take place under a tent at the National Emergency Training Center, where the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial is located. Parking will be available at Liberty Mountain Resort.

All people entering the campus will be screened through a metal detector or with a handheld wand. Weapons of any kind, alcohol, and drugs—including marijuana—are strictly prohibited.

The 2025 Red Helmet Ride has been canceled.

The Memorial grounds will remain closed to the public throughout the weekend and will reopen for visitors on Friday, May 9 at 7:00 am Eastern Time. Visitors may also view the Memorial virtually by using our live webcam.

This year, the national tribute will honor 70 firefighters who died in the line of duty in 2024, along with 70 firefighters who died in previous years. Each firefighter’s name will be added to a bronze plaque that becomes a permanent part of the National Memorial.
