Chaplain Edward Stauffer

Chaplain Edward StaufferThe National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) mourns the loss of Chaplain Edward Murphy (“Ed”) Stauffer, who passed away peacefully at home in Meridian, TX on June 25, 2022.

Ed began his fire service career as a Fort Worth, TX firefighter in 1959. He was the first chaplain of the FWFD, serving the city of Fort Worth’s firefighters and their families for many years. In 1978, Ed founded what would become the Federation of Fire Chaplains; he would later serve as its Executive Director. He went on to train, mentor, teach and encourage thousands of chaplains for over 40 years.

Ed’s perspective was of integral importance for work done through NFFF’s Fire Programs initiatives. He played an active role in our Firefighter Life Safety Summit, serving as a presenter at our 10th Anniversary Summit in Tampa, FL in 2014. NFFF extends our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Chaplain Stauffer and express our gratitude for the impact he had throughout the Fire Service community.
