The residents of Leonardtown, Maryland are uniting in a powerful display of solidarity, showing their unwavering support to the family and friends of Firefighter Brice Clayton Trossbach. They are participating in Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters, a poignant event that honors fallen heroes. Firefighter Trossbach died in a house fire while on duty at the Naval Air Station Patuxent River on June 27, 2023. He will be memorialized this weekend at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
Leonardtown is a small town with about 5,000 residents. Firefighter Trossbach was an integral part of this community. Aside from working for the Naval Air Station, he was also a member of the Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department and the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to the town paying tribute by participating in Light the Night, a bench with his name will be dedicated at the Leonardtown Wharf.
“When I heard that Leonardtown was honoring Firefighter Trossbach, I was reminded of why Light the Night has become such an important part of Memorial Weekend. Everyone can honor our nation’s fallen firefighters by lighting their home or business red. When a community that has lost a firefighter decides to participate, we know it means a lot to the firefighter’s family,” noted Victor Stagnaro, CEO of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
