Andrew shares that the Senator Sarbanes scholarship allows him to attend his school of choice where he is working to earn a degree in Computer Science, a passion of his. After graduation, Andrew plans to go into a career as a computer programmer.
His volunteer experience comes from working with his local church during Vacation Bible School where he helped create games and activities for younger children for two years. Andrew has served as the recreation leader until COVID curtailed in-person gatherings. He hopes to begin assisting his church when things return to normal. Andrew shares that he has been battling depression and anxiety related to COVID and knows that a scholarship will assist with lessening the anxiety of lessening his student debt.
Retired FDNY Firefighter Anthony Tavoulareas stated, “Andrew, like his father, is determined and a hard worker. I am certain, with those characteristics, Andrew will continue his education, graduate and achieve his dream of working in either cyber security or becoming a successful gaming programmer.”
