Luke continues his academic studies at North Carolina University. Upon graduation, he will be equipped to work to create solutions to environmental problems through Forestry with a focus on Ecology. His goal is to graduate school with minimal to no student debt.
Luke practices self-care by working out, eating better, maintaining a healthy sleep schedule, taking scheduled breaks from technology and schoolwork to meditate, and read his Bible. This semester, he has had to work two jobs, has had to create, and sell watches, and depend upon other financial assistance to cover living expenses.
Luke participates in Forestry club, the Appalachian Chapter of the Society of American Foresters, and works in his church.
Professor Sam Cook writes, “Luke is hardworking, self-motivated, kind, selfless, and devoted to helping the less fortunate. I have no doubt he will uphold the standards of the NFFF Scholarship program and continue to be a shining member of your community.”
