Marissa is currently enrolled at Butte College Fire Academy where she is will be a senior in the Fall. She plans to continue to further her training in the fire service as she prepares to give back and help her community.

While Marissa places a high value her education and fire service training as a full-time student, she continues to serve as a Butte County Fire Department Volunteer. She loves her job as a volunteer because it allows her to serve her community through on-the-job training.

Says Captain Joe Chavez, “Marissa has an excellent attitude and is a very dependable volunteer Firefighter/Student. She always goes above and beyond what is asked of her and is determined to start and finish every task she performs.”
