The Alan Patrick Sondej Memorial Scholarship Fund for Families of Fallen Firefighters is the first NFFF scholarship fund that is designed to provide scholarships that satisfy the full four year cost of college tuition and books.
The scholarship awards made by the Al Sondej fund will be available for issuance on an annual basis. Awards are based on an evaluation of academic achievement and financial need and are available to students pursuing a major in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and public safety.

Alan led a life of compassion and generosity. From his undergraduate days at Notre Dame University through adulthood, he believed strongly in higher education and was committed to help those affected by poverty and hunger.
